In the month of November, 2016, my husband and I attended a local church service near our home. As we stood in the sanctuary for praise and worship, I could not help but notice a teenage boy, around the age of 15 or 16, and his mother standing in the row in front of us. I couldn’t help but be drawn to the boy for he was coughing incessantly. So much so that it was almost disruptive. Occasionally, the boy’s mother would look over at him but yet said nothing to him about his coughing.
Suddenly, I heard the Lord speak to me. “Lay your hand on the boy,” He said. I hesitated for a moment for I questioned whether I had heard correctly for this was only the second time I can remember the Lord Himself telling me to lay hands on someone.
It was in 2001 when I witnessed that amazing miracle. In a room full of people, I felt the power of God burn in my chest after I was moved to lay hands on a woman and witnessed God heal her from a debilitating lung condition called sarcoidosis. If I was mistaken here in this church, I thought, I could bring unwanted negative attention to myself for I did not know this boy nor his mother. And in this day and age, you really do have to be careful especially where children are concerned.
I immediately responded to God. “Lord, I don’t know these people and if I were the mother of this boy, I would be upset if a stranger put their hands on my son.” I waited a moment for an answer, but the Lord did not respond. Not wanting to be disobedient, I quickly thought of a way to lay hands on the boy without it appearing to be inappropriate. I decided to take a tissue out of my purse to hand to the boy for he was still coughing excessively. This way, I thought, I could still lay hands on him and do it in an inconspicuous manner. While I reached into my purse to get the tissue, I spoke once again to the Lord. “Lord, if this is really You asking me to do this, can You please give me a sign?” Right about this time, the praise and worship music stopped and the worship leader asked everyone in the congregation to turn to their neighbor and greet them. Immediately, even almost mechanically, the boy who was standing directly in front of me (and still coughing) turned around and extended his right hand to greet me. I thanked God for the sign and said a silent prayer as I cupped the boys hand with my two hands then handed him the tissue.
The mother, after seeing me hand her son the tissue, took the hint and told her son to go to the restroom. A little while later, he returned and sat down. I noticed that the boy had stopped coughing. I then heard the Lord say, “Pray for the children.” I watched the teenage boy throughout the remainder of the service and he never coughed again.
The Lord has since asked me to lay hands on other children as well as God is calling to Himself a remnant of youth who will rise up against the evil in this world in these last days. His mark is upon them. These are children who will faithfully follow the Lord and defend His word. These are children who are fearless and who God has anointed to boldly speak out against evil and its apostasy. These are children who need our continuous prayer, support and discipleship for a mighty attack from the enemy has also risen up against them.
The enemy knows that his time is short and he is leaving no stone unturned in his attempts to destroy God’s remnant. The enemy’s attacks are relentless and evidence of it can be seen everywhere. His diabolical plans include trying to destroy God’s children even before their conception. We see this in the ever-increasing forms of birth control that are in the market today. The widespread acceptance of abortion also bear his fingerprints.
Satan is also using all forms of entertainment in this world, which he has corrupted, to attract our children. For it is his intent to turn the children away from God by poisoning their minds. The enemy is no respecter of age. His attacks are against babies on up. We can clearly see the enemy’s lies and deception in our children’s books, games, music, television, movies and advertisements. We can also see Satan’s influence in our children’s education. Parents, beware and be careful of what you allow your children to be exposed to and influenced by. Always be on guard. Stay involved with your children. Teach them the difference between right and wrong according to God’s word, not the world. Demonstrate for your children how to stand strong and resolute in this evil world that we live in. “Train up a child up in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 This is a promise given to us from God.
Church, always pray without ceasing and take heed to what thus sayeth the Lord: “Pray for the children.”
